DIRECTOR’S WELCOME

Director's Welcome

Dear IST Community Members and Visitors to the International School of Tianjin (IST),

It is my great honor to welcome you to our school and website, and to have this opportunity to share with you just some of the many reasons why our community is so very proud of our incredible school here in our wonderful host city of Tianjin.

As one of only a handful of genuine not-for-profit schools for the children of foreign nationals in China, IST exists only to provide an outstanding education to the children of the international community living here in Tianjin. Our school is governed by a board of volunteer parents, and all operational surpluses are reinvested into our school to ensure that we continue to provide the very best in staffing, facilities, resources, programmes and services for our students and community. At IST the needs of our students always come first!

Our school prides itself on being inclusive and welcoming, in many ways an oasis for families far from home, and every effort is made to ensure that all family members develop a true sense of belonging as members of our school family. Our parent governed Board of Governors and Parent Faculty Organisation (PFO) work in active partnership with the school administration, faculty and support staff, and students, to ensure that the promise of our philosophy –perhaps best summarized by its lead sentence– is part of our community’s everyday experience: Our school is a friendly place where the needs of students come first.

I welcome you to explore our website and to contact us at any time in order to request additional information, to arrange an opportunity to video-conference with a member of the leadership team, or to come in for a guided tour of our campus and introduction to our school and programmes. We look forward to the possibility of welcoming you to Tianjin, and into our school family and community!

A big “Hello” to your children, and warm regards to you all.
