Welcome from the Secondary Principal

Dear IST Families and Prospective Families,

I am pleased to welcome you here to our middle school and high school home on the web.  I am very excited about the 2010 - 2011 academic year—there will be much that is both new and stimulating to spur the development of our students.

The International School of Tianjin offers academically challenging programmes designed to meet the needs of each individual student.  And our rich selection of course offerings is supplemented by a strong and varied after-school activities programme.  We encourage students to keep abreast of local and global issues, we work to instill in them a belief that their efforts can effect positive change, and we help them to acquire the tools needed to create lasting solutions to these issues.

In so doing, IST encourages its students to enter into a lifelong commitment to broader community involvement.  Students have many opportunities to engage in community service and travel in our host country of China and abroad.

The secondary school at IST is a warm and inviting place, one where students feel encouraged and supported in both their learning and their social interactions.  IST works hard to preserve a familial sense of intimacy – one that allows children and their families to get involved in many ways in the life of the school.
