Facilities

Accompanying IST’s dynamic curriculum development has been the construction and expansion of our world class, purpose-built school campus – the first in Tianjin. The school is situated on approximately 7.2 hectares of park-like grounds and has outstanding facilities for its academic, cultural and sporting programs.

The first phase of IST’s campus was completed in 2001 and second phase on the south side of the school is scheduled for completion in 2010. Plans for a new 6,900m2 aquatics center on the northern side of the school have been completed and it is hoped that construction will commence during the 2011-12 school year. 

The school’s current ‘Phase 1’ facilities include

• extensive library containing over 30,000+ books and publications as well as subscriptions to a variety of online databases
• 5 science laboratories

• 4 main computer laboratories and a number of satellite computer rooms (mini-labs) for individual classrooms
• specialist rooms for design technology
• a 500-seat performing arts theater
• large art and music suites 
• counselor’s suite
• center for students with special learning needs
• professionally staffed clinic
• parent-faculty room

• large double-sized gymnasium
• climbing wall
• full sized soccer pitch
• 400m running track
• 2 full-size basketball courts

The quality of our sporting amenities, and the strength of the sporting program, ensures that IST takes a leading role in interschool sports leagues, both in the Beijing-Tianjin area and China-wide.  For younger student there is a range of indoor and outdoor play equipment.

The ‘Phase 2’ facilities due for completion late in 2008 include

• 25 additional classrooms
• a 500-seat performance hall
• extensive suites for music and drama
• a magnificent library with adjacent computer laboratories
• four large science laboratories
• extensive leisure and private study facilities for secondary students
